Some players like Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and Morgan Rielly have turned out great. Other players have struggled to stay in hockey. Today a former Maple Leafs prospect might have had his hockey journey come to an end.
Worst Case Scenario Confirmed For Former Maple Leafs Prospect
Former Maple Leafs prospect Jeremy Bracco got some unfortunate news earlier today. According to sources he was put on waivers in the KHL by Barys Astana.
Bracco came to Barys last season and had a solid season with 40 points in 59 games. This season he was off to a rough start with 1 point in 6 games. Since leaving North America Bracco has also played in Germany and Finland. Now at just 26 years old Bracco's career is on the move again.
What Went Wrong For Bracco?
Jeremy Bracco was drafted in the second round of the 2015 NHL Draft right in the middle of the Maple Leafs' rebuild. Because of this, he had a prime opportunity to be a part of the Maple Leafs core along with players like Marner and Matthews. Instead, he is bouncing his way around Europe but how did he get here?
In junior hockey, Bracco was electric scoring well over a point per game in multiple seasons. He then made the transition to the AHL and had a solid rookie season followed by an amazing second AHL season where he scored 79 points in 75 games. After that many people expected Bracco to get an NHL opportunity. Unfortunately for him, it never came and his numbers regressed in 2019-20 leading to him heading overseas.
Now Bracco will look to get his career back on track. This could include a return to North America or another opportunity overseas.
