A recent video has gotten a lot of attention as it points out the perfect trade destination for Maple Leafs star William Nylander.
Nylander to Colorado would make a lot of sense given the injury to Gabriel Landeskog and it would also send Nylander to the western conference where the spotlight would not be on him nearly as much.
Colorado is in quite an interesting situation. As the video said, their captain Gabriel Landeskog is out for the entirety of next season which gives Nylander a place in Colorado.
In addition to this, Colorado has a mix of young and old talent with a core that won a Stanley Cup in 2022 so they know what winning takes.
The Avalanche have one of the deepest defensive cores in the NHL with the likes of Cale Makar, Devon Toews, Sam Girard, Josh Manson, and Bowen Byram.
If the Leafs were to trade Nylander to Colorado, they should try to acquire Bowen Byram in return as he was the 4th overall pick in 2019 and has yet to completely break out.
Byram would get a top opportunity in Toronto to be on their top pairing alongside Morgan Reilly.
The Avalanche would be getting a Landeskog replacement who could play on his own line or alongside Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon.
The swap would be ideal for both sides and it would allow the Leafs to get a future star defenseman in exchange for a star forward who can help the Avalanche in their Stanley Cup pursuit.
