Auston Matthews skating at TD Garden ahead of game five
This morning we got some major news regarding the health and status of Auston Matthews. After leaving Game 4 against the Boston Bruins due to sickness Auston Matthews seems close to a return.
A set of reports have confirmed that Auston Matthews is on the ice this morning for an optional skate at TD Garden ahead of Game 5 tonight.
Auston Matthews is skating at TD Garden before Game 5.
While it is encouraging to see Auston Matthews back on the ice today skating during an optional skate on game day is unusual. This has led to speculation that he will not play today.
Auston Matthews made a very brief appearance on the ice at Maple Leafs optional skate then left the ice. Strange.
Auston Matthews stuck around for only eight minutes.
He went through a small number of drills puckhandling, passing, and tips in front of the net with Leafs assistant coach Manny Malholtra.
He left before the skate got underway.
As of now there is no official update on Auston Matthews' status for the game but things do not look hopeful. Best case scenario for the Maple Leafs and their fans is that he is skating and giving it a go he feels good and plays. If not the Maple Leafs could be without their top star in a must-win game.
As official word comes in regarding Auston Matthews' status for Game 5 we will pass that information along to you.
