The Toronto Maple Leafs have parted ways with Brandon Pridham, making it three key executives that John Chayka has let go in two weeks.

Toronto officially announced they had agreed to part ways with Pridham after 12 years in the organization, and put out a fairly lengthy statement regarding the former GM:
Toronto Maple Leafs GM John Chayka today announced Reuther changes to the hockey operations department. Assistant General Manager Brandon Pridham and the team have mutually agreed to part ways, while Assistant GM, Player Personnel Derek Clancey will also be departing the organization.
GM John Chayka also put out a personal statement on the decision:
We are sincerely appreciative of Brandon's professionalism, commitment, and dedication to the Maple Leafs over the past 12 seasons. Derek also brought valuable experience and insight to our hockey operations department. We thank both for their contributions and wish them all the very best moving forward.

Having moved out Craig Berube and Shane Doan, now gone is the salary cap architect who built every Leafs contract, and helped shape the Leafs roster since 2018, is on his way out.
Pridham, who along with Ryan Hardy carried the role of acting GM following the dismissal of Brad Treliving this past season, has been with the organization since 2014, named assistant GM in 2018.
Clancey spent the last three seasons with the Maple Leafs after spending 14 years in the Pittsburgh organization with a pit stop in Calgary and Vancouver along the way.

Pridham survived 12 years and four GMs in Toronto and the fact he is leaving now tells you everything about Chayka's plan

Pridham, who was the Leafs salary cap guide is departing, meaning Toronto will need to find someone who is savvy when it comes to the financial aspect of the Leafs front office.
Having been a major factor in the extensions to Auston Matthews & William Nylander, the signing of John Tavares, and decision not to extend Mitch Marner, Pridham has heavily shaped the outlook of the Leafs roster as it stands with his financial expertise.
Having been a candidate in the Leafs general manager search, a possible scenario could see Rangers assistant general manager Ryan Martin re-emerge as an option with the chance to be the Leafs top assistant to replace Pridham.
Martin hasn't shown up heavily in other GM searches since not progressing in the Leafs interview stage, which could have him a desirable option as Chayka's #2.
It's a sign of change not just from the Brad Treliving era, but from the Kyle Dubas era as well, with Pridham having been one of the last remaining cogs of Dubas' era that managed to last through Treliving's reign as well.
Reported on by expert sports media columnist Jonah Sigel, Pridham had interviewed for the GM job, with concerns behind the scenes with how he was treated by MLSE CEO Keith Pelley, but also points out Pridham's 'reputational value' isn't as high as some may believe.

Doan is gone, Berube is gone, now Pridham is out the door as Auston Matthews watches every name come off the board

The Toronto Maple Leafs are doing a cleaning of house with John Chayka now in charge, with Pridham departing, and the recent letting go of head coach Craig Berube, the team is working fast behind the scenes.
Also let go was team assistant Shane Doan, someone who as a player was on the Coyotes when Chayka took over as GM, showing that past ties will mean little for the new Leafs manager.
Along with acquiring the first overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, the steps are being put in place to please captain Auston Matthews, who reports suggest wants to see greater action this offseason to keep him on board with Toronto.
The real turnaround will come from the players brought in and moved out, but for now as the playoffs continue, the big moves for Toronto will continue to be off the ice.
