David Kampf has reportedly been suspended without pay for leaving the organization and failing to return.

According to PuckPedia, David Kampf, who has been playing in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies, had left the team, and after not returning has been suspended by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The suspension removes the $1.25M owed to Kampf as a fee for burying him in the minors while signed to an NHL contract.
Kampf, 30, played in 59 games last season for the Toronto Maple Leafs with 13 points, but was waived early in the season after failing to make the Toronto Maple Leafs roster.
It's unclear what is next for David Kampf, but for now, he faces what could be major repercussions, and potentially see him look for a second chance elsewhere.

David Kampf Potentially On His Way Out Of Toronto

With David Kampf no longer participating with the Toronto Marlies, and not with the Leafs, it could open the way for the Leafs to terminate his contract.
Kampf, who has spent the last eight seasons in the National Hockey League and hasn't been in the minors since 2018, could find his way onto a new path.
It has been indicated recently that Kampf was looking to depart the Marlies, seemingly unhappy with being in the minors and wanting to explore other opportunities elsewhere.
It seems that David Kampf may be close to an exit with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and hope for an answer to come soon.

What Comes Next For David Kampf?

The Toronto Maple Leafs could try to trade David Kampf, but for a veteran in the minors, their offerings may be slim to none.
The Leafs could terminate his deal, allowing him to be a free agent and have another NHL team take his rights if they want him in the lineup.
As well, the Czech forward could head home to his native Czechia, and pursue an opportunity overseas if there's no NHL takers, as it appears Kampf isn't interested in the AHL.
Nothing appears set in stone yet, but the Leafs have kept Kampf in the organization as depth, hoping to insert him in the lineup as needed.
For Kampf, who is hoping to have a chance to play at a top level of hockey as he's used to doing, he may be headed towards an exit with his time as a Toronto Maple Leaf.
