Easton Cowan is signaling his focus has shifted to making the Toronto Maple Leafs roster for this upcoming season.

It comes as little surprise, but Leafs 2023 first round pick Easton Cowan will be skipping the training camp for his OHL team, the London Knights, with the goal of making the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Jared Brown of 'The Hockey News' wrote in an article Cowan is a player to watch to push for a roster spot in the NHL, along with fellow Knights forward Kasper Halttunen, a product of the San Jose Sharks.

"Easton Cowan, Ruslan Gazizov, and Kasper Halttunen will join the team (London) after NHL camps, but watch for Cowan and Halttunen as two players who are going to push to make the jump to the NHL this year."

The belief among the Leafs is that Cowan, along with fellow prospect Fraser Minten, is still an outsider, but if he's cut fron the team, he'll be one of the later ones, if not the last man fighting.

Cowan had 34 goals, 52 assists and 96 points in 54 games for the London Knights while also having 34 points in 18 playoff games en route to a J. Ross Robertson Cup victory and a Memorial Cup final.

Cowan also appeared for Canada at the 2024 World Junior Championship, having two points in five games.
