The Toronto Maple Leafs have plenty of work to do this off-season, and now it appears they've made their first big deal of the summer.
In his first season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Max Domi quickly became a fan favourite, and with his versatility and durability, he was going to be a major loss if he walked in free agency. However, it appears the two sides are on the verge of a deal according to insider Elliotte Friedman, who reports a new deal is coming together that would pay Domi just under $4 million a year over the next four seasons.
Nothing will be made official until free agency begins on July 1st, but after a solid first year with Toronto where he tallied 47 points in 80 games played, this was a deal that needed to get done. Now, the team will need to focus on Tyler Bertuzzi and beefing up their blue line, but after a good first year, Maple Leafs fans will be very happy to see Domi on the back of a Toronto jersey for years to come.
