While this is a good thing, it does mean one player won't be dressing in the playoffs. Per Nick Kypreos, that player has been revealed.
The Maple Leafs have an interesting decision to make.
Having brought in Ryan O'Reilly, Noel Acciari, and Sam Lafferty, they suddenly have a true surplus at forward.
With Acciari already impressing, O'Reilly becoming a staple in the top-six, and Lafferty set to add another layer of fight to the bottom-six, other players will lose their spots.
While the trio of Pontus Holmberg, Alex Steeves, and Bobby McCann will almost assuredly be with the Marlies for the rest of the season, the decision becomes much more complicated with the NHLers.
Dubas has two options here. He has two players that could carry some value, these being Alex Kerfoot and Pierre Engvall.
This could help him recoup some assets he used in his two blockbuster deals.
Equally likely is Zach Aston-Reese getting the boot. He's been fine this season, but nothing indicates he'll deserve a spot over Acciari, Lafferty or Calle Jarnkrok.
Dubas may still not be done, so we will see if this situation changes by 3PM on Friday.
