Since he came into office, Brad Treliving has made many great acquisitions. He changed the team, but the foundation is 100% Dubas-made.
Kyle Dubas worked as the Leafs' GM between 2018 and 2023. During that time, he made the Leafs one of the top teams in the NHL over the last few regular seasons.
On TSN's First Up, Carlo Colaiacovo asked his followers on X if they prefer a Treliving-built team or a Dubas-built team.
Kyle Dubas' grandmother, Marietta Dubas, commented.
She's right. Dubas' fingerprints are still all over the team.
If we look at the changes both Dubas and Treliving made to their teams this summer, it's safe to say that Dubas' acquisitions are more interesting.
While Treliving opted for more grit with Max Domi, Ryan Reaves, and Tyler Bertuzzi, Dubas went for the superstar.
Getting Erik Karlsson is definitely a move that couldn't have been pulled off by just any GM. Dubas played his cards right. Not only that, he added a lot of depth to the Penguins with Lars Eller, Noel Acciari, Ryan Graves, and Reilly Smith.
Comparing the changes of both teams, it's hard to determine who'd get the upper hand, but Dubas' boldness gives him the edge here.
We can't wait to see what Treliving will do next to upgrade his team!
