Leafs forward expresses heartbreak in emotional social media post
The Toronto Maple Leafs are mourning the loss of performance coach Greg Harden, and forward Max Domi took time to pay homage to Harden; someone he was very close with.
On September 12th, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced the passing of Peak Performance coach Greg Harden. This was also confirmed by the University of Michigan where Harden spent decades helping players:
Harden, known for his ability to help steer players in the right direction with his mental coaching and genuine motivation to see these players succeed at the highest level. Some of the players he helped over the years include Tom Brady, Michael Phelps, Desmond Howard and J. J. McCarthy; all who poured in beautiful tributes to Harden.
One player in particular who is feeling the pain of losing Harden is forward Max Domi; who took the time to post on his Instagram a very heartfelt tribute to Harden alongside a few images of the two together:
I hope I can make you proud. You have my word that I will give 100%, 100% of the time.
I will be a proud Greg Harden student for the rest of my life.
'Defence wins championships. The value of a hard conversation is worth every bit of pain if it helps the team. It takes everyone. Physical, Mental, Emotional & Spiritual strength. You can't be a winner as a bunch of individual boys, you can only win when you decide to become a group of men that care more about the guy next to them or across from them than themselves.'
'50% mental, 50% intentional. It's all mental son. You gotta believe.' We got unfinished business, you know that. I can't wait to tell you all about it one day. See you on the other side G. Rest easy. Love you my brother''
With Max Domi gearing up to start the first year of his new extension, there's no doubt he has some extra motivation to play his heart out; just as Harden would have wanted.
