Leafs GM Brad Treliving to trade David Kampf ahead of the season per insider
The Toronto Maple Leafs have to make some moves to help their salary cap situation, and according to one insider, that means they'll move David Kampf.
After a busy day one of free agency, the Toronto Maple Leafs have some work to do to fill out this roster and give themselves salary cap flexibility as they look to build a Stanley Cup contender.
Unsurprisingly, that has led to some potential trade chatter, with several players in Calle Jarnkrok, David Kampf and Timothy Liljegren singled out as potential trade chips for the Maple Leafs.
Now, Nick Kypreos has double down on his predictions, revealing that if anyone on this team is to be moved, it will be a bottom-six forward in Kampf;
''The bottom-six forwards need some attention as well. Is David Kampf still in the plans to lead the Leafs' checking line? There's a good chance they cut bait there as well.''
With the team also needing to recreate the success that Tyler Bertuzzi had in their top-six a season ago, there's still moves to be made before training camp begins, meaning this team could still see some big time changes.
Ultimately though, time is running out on a potential Mitch Marner trade, so as the season nears, look for Brad Treliving to make some smaller deals to boost this roster that could be Stanley Cup ready in 2024/25.
