Heading into Pittsburgh riding a solid four-game win streak, the Maple Leafs are looking like a team who is set to make a strong push for more than just one round in this year's upcoming playoffs.
They are dealing with some injury concerns however, and not everything is sunshine and rainbows for the team. However, they are going to be getting a very important player back just when they need him the most.
Calle Jarnkrok, who has been out since the season began recovering from sports hernia surgery, is set to make his season debut on Saturday barring any catastrophic turn of events.
Jarnkrok was also thrust right into the thick of things, being placed on the second PP unit for Craig Berube at practice.
It's a great sign that Toronto is getting such an underrated yet vital piece of their roster back, and it could make the trade deadline a little easier on Brad Treliving.
Head coach Craig Berube seems excited at the prospect of having Janrkrok back in the lineup as well:
Jarnkrok also feels confident that he can get back on the ice as well:
While it all comes down to medical, seeing so much optimism and excitement around Jarnkrok; a player who was dealt a potentially career-ending injury, is heartwarming.
Toronto can use him too, as he's no doubt going to bolster both the team's offense and defense up front.
Last season was a bit of a down one for Jarnkrok with only 10 goals and 11 assists, but is only two seasons removed from a 20-goal outburst which Toronto desperately needs him to have that pace again.
It'll be great to see Jarnkrok back on the ice, and though it might take him a few games to get back into the swing of things, he's healthy. That's really what matters most.
