The Toronto Maple Leafs were not the most active team at the deadline other than adding a few depth pieces such as Joel Edmundson and Ilya Lyubuhskin. Another name added was Connor Dewar from the Minnesota Wild, a piece who can very well be a replacement in the bottom 6 for a player who has yet to live up to his pricetag.

Dewar can replace Kampf

David Kampf is in his second year of his 4 year contract at upwards of 2 million dollars. He was brought in for a shut down role in Toronto, but is at a very high price thanks to the contract given by Kyle Dubas. Many fans are speculating that the acquisition of Connor Dewar can mean the end for forward David Kampf.

Kämpf ➡️ cheaper Dewar has to happen some way somehow, and I'd have McMann back pretty cheap too. Maybe even just have Robertson high up and spend on one decent F. Most of the cap to D

Ideally, we aren't an LTIR team for once & can accrue cap space, allowing for a big deadline F

It makes perfect sense, Dewar, is on a team friendly deal almost making league minimum. He is also a pending RFA at the end of the season, and may seek at most 1.25 million dollars, which is half of what Kampf is making in Toronto.
