Of course, any NHL team that is even remotely competitive should be interested in the possibility of adding a player of Mitch Marner's caliber via trade. It is not every day such trades become possibilities. That being said, the Leafs have been very quiet about Marner's status for the past few weeks. Rumors were rampant early in the offseason but they have since died back down.
We are now more than a couple weeks past the 2024 NHL draft, which is where these rumors largely left off. Several NHL insiders had Marner at the top of their trade lists, any that is exactly where he remains. However, while trade rumors did pick back up around draft day, once again, they appear to have cooled off.
As such, he is no longer an option for the Knights when it comes to trades. Shea Theodore is still a good player to have though, and the Leafs could use more help on the back end, even after the additions of Chris Tanev and Oliver Ekman Larsson.
