Max Domi was asked what went wrong with the Maple Leafs this season. He said it's none of the media's business. For a team that has been asking fans to trust the process for a decade — that answer is exactly the problem.

The Toronto media is something of a thorn in the side of the Maple Leafs. While there are certainly questions to be asked, the constant scrutiny, criticism and chatter has caused a lot of headaches for certain players.
Max Domi is one of those players, and leave it to the son of Tie Domi to direct some fire towards reporters.

Domi draws a line with the media and frankly, the honesty is pretty refreshing

Speaking after practice on Wednesday, the veteran forward flat out mentioned that he was tired of the questions and it's time for the media to focus on something else:
We’re not going to get in into what went wrong with you guys &, quite frankly, it’s none of your business. It’s our group’s business & we’ll keep it that. We know what we got to do better & we will.
The question that irked Domi was presumably one regarding what led to the sudden downfall of the Maple Leafs however it doesn't take a rocket scientist to come to those conclusions.
But it does also show that Domi and potentially others are willing to finally speak their minds and while it might not exactly lead to any revealed secrets — the fact that he was so blunt and straightforward is a great sign.
This is a group that has a very, very hard time with transparency and while Domi's words aren't exactly ones that spring lots of positivity; at least he's being honest.

The culture question isn't going away though, regardless of how much they try to shut it out

But the fact remains, if the culture wasn't still an issue or the problems that have plagued them for a decade were gone — the question wouldn't be asked in the first place.
No matter how much Domi and the other players may want to shut out the noise, until there are real changes in and out of the organization; they should probably invest in ear plugs.
Domi's comments are also a product of the lack of accountability within the Maple Leafs group. 'We don't wanna hear you, nana-nana boo-boo' is a pretty childish way to approach things and a lot more humility and acknowledgment of your failures would go a long way.
The media knows things are bad, so do the fans and obviously Domi does too but things will only get worse before they get better unless Toronto decides to make a culture shift this offseason.
