According to Sportsnet NHL analyst Justin Bourne, Leafs star Mitch Marner has indicated to the team his preference to stay with the Toronto Maple Leafs, at least for next season until he hits free agency.
Marner, on the final year next season of a $10.9M deal, will likely wait out his next contract, focusing on next season in Toronto, he's reportedly expressed. Marner hasn't given indication that his goal is to leave Toronto or be moved elsewhere.
Marner, 27, had 26 goals, 59 assists & 85 points in 69 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season. In 576 career games with Toronto in 8 seasons, Marner has 194 goals, 445 assists & 639 points. Marner is a 3x NHL All-Star, having earned the nod in the past two seasons.
