Mitch Marner has been heavily scrutinized throughout his entire Toronto Maple Leafs career, but after failing to show up in the post-season again, it appears most, if not all Maple Leafs fans are intent on shipping him out this off-season. There's been plenty of potential trade ideas floated out by analysts and fans alike, but this latest one from Steve Dangle has certainly got the media talking.
When asked about a deal between Carolina and Toronto that would involve a straight up swap between Martin Necas and Marner, host Steve Dangle happily obliged, revealing that the change would be a welcome one for the Maple Leafs forward group. It's unlikely that this is a deal that Brad Treliving would accept from Carolina, as Marner's perceived worth is much higher than Necas', but if they become desperate enough to move Marner, absolutely anything could be on the table.
Ultimately though, this would be a move that's up to Marner, as he has a full no-movement clause in his contract, but the opportunity to play for a playoff contender like the Carolina Hurricanes would no doubt intrigue the veteran forward.
