This is the final season of Mitch Marner's contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and while there is speculation about whether or not he's gonna stay, at least he's taking every chance he can get right now to play his heart out regardless; leading the Leafs with 22 points this season, and showing just how good he truly is as a player.
But it's not just hockey that Marner is turning heads in, and may have a new career after all is said and done, or at least some new fans.
He recently signed an endorsement deal with PSD Underwear and showed off his new Maple Leafs inspired underwear; while also cheekily showing a bit of his physique as well:
PSD is a company known for athletic-specific undergarments and specializes in both practicality and comfort. Other professional athletes endorsed by PSD include NBA stars Jimmy Butler, Ja Morant, and Tyler Herro as well as professional boxer Javon Walton.
The new deal will give Marner a little bit of extra cash as he figures out his future plans. Currently, in the NHL's biggest market, Marner has the chance to earn a copious amount of endorsements and become the face of several brands.
Currently according to Forbes' athlete profile, Marner currently earns $2M in endorsement deals from Nike, Beats by Dre, Red Bull, Oakley, Intact Insurance, and now PSD Underwear.
It's not to the level of Auston Matthews who has almost a dozen endorsements ranging from RBC Bank to Prime Energy. Marner could be able to earn a few more if he stuck around in Toronto.
It will be a tough task to re-sign Marner though, as not only will teams like Chicago be chomping at the bit for him, but he'll command an insane amount of money over a long period and Toronto can't fall into that trap again.
Marner is smart and is trying to get as much money as he can before he heads into free agency and his play this season isn't helping Toronto save any money.
At least Marner can rest comfortably as his bank account rises, much like the comfort he gets from his PSDs.
