Today a new report from an NHL insider has revealed a timeline for an extension to potentially be done between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tyler Bertuzzi.
Maple Leafs forward Tyler Bertuzzi came in last offseason and was one of the more consistent players for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season. As a result extension talks are underway for him to return to Toronto for multiple seasons.

Today a new report from Jordan Schmaltz has indicated that the Toronto Maple Leafs do not want the negotiations to leak into free agency and want an extension done before Tyler Bertuzzi can hit the open market.

Jordan Schmaltz continues and says that he believes the Maple Leafs should keep the term of the contract around 3-4 years. This would allow the team to make a decision on Tyler Bertuzzi's future around the same time that Auston Matthews' contract ends.
my max on term would be 4 years, and I'd try to get it over the finish line at 3. AM34 is locked in for 4 years starting next season and anything over that seems unnecessary. I would try to get that number somewhere under 5 mill AAV for sure.
Finally he lists a pair of comparable players that Tyler Bertuzzi's contract could be molded after this summer. Both are reliable middle-six wingers with lineup versatility.
