After play was blown dead early in the first period between the Maple Leafs and Bruins chaos broke loose. This happened as a result of Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe cross-checking Brad Marchand seemingly out of nowhere.

By the end of the scrum, the Maple Leafs ended up with two penalties. One handed to McCabe for interference the other to Matthew Knies for roughing. Shortly after the Bruins would go on to score on the powerplay courtesy of David Pastrnak.
