The NHL is currently deliberating on the future of the Arizona Coyotes following their failed bid to relocate to the Tempe Entertainment District.
Speculations about potential locations for the Coyotes are abundant.
Could The Coyotes Work In Toronto?
Among these rumors, there's talk of introducing a second franchise in Toronto, Canada's largest city.
Drawing a parallel with New York, which successfully supports both the Rangers and the Islanders, many believe that a second team in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) could thrive.
When questioned about the possibility of a second team in the GTA, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman responded predictably, given his perceived bias towards Canada.
He dismissed the idea more quickly than one could dine at a café in a tire shop.
NO To A Second GTA Franchise
"The discussion takes place in your world more than it does in ours. It's a matter of speculation, it's a matter of putting things out there, but in terms of the interest, the reality, what's involved. It's not something that seems to be resonating the way other markets and other ownership requests are resonating for whatever reason or reasons" - Bettman on the idea of a second GTA-based team
I think we all know Canada won't be getting any new teams until the Gary Bettman era is over as he's made it clear in the past he's not a fan of our Country when it comes to hockey.
