Ryan Reaves Opens Up His Health Concerns, Hinting at Possible End of Career
Ryan Reaves has been missing from the Leafs lineup for over a month. The veteran enforcer last played on December 14th, when he injured his knee. Now it seems as though the injury could jeopardize his career.
Reaves has been one of the worst players in the entire NHL in recent seasons based on publicly available analytics models. Now we may know why. The veteran forward revealed today that he has been dealing with ongoing knee problems throughout the last few years. His most recent injury was likely just an iteration of this long-term issue.
Reaves Contract Looks Even More Questionable Following Injury Revelation
This latest revelation makes it all the more confusing as to why Brad Treliving offered Reaves a three-year deal over the offseason. He must have known about this knee issue as players must pass a physical before they can sign a contract.
Brad Treliving signed Ryan Reaves to a three year deal and everyone just stopped using their brains in regards to the Leafs.
At this point is seems like Reaves may not even play another game of professional hockey. He's played just 21 games this season and has a single goal to show for it. While it is not the most consequential contract Treliving has signed so far, it certainly appears to be the worst.
