The Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe provided an update regarding forward Mitch Marner after he missed a crucial matchup against rivals the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night at the Bell Centre, and many fans are finding Keefe's comments very concerning.

Keefe comment on Marner doesn't sound assuring

When asked if Mitch Marner will play tomorrow night against the Philadelphia Flyers, Keefe answered the following:

"No update on Mitchell. He didn't skate today, so read into that what you will" - Keefe on Marner

Many fans are concerned with that response and with reason as the Leafs can't afford to lose Mitch Marner ahead of the most crucial time of the season. The playoffs look like a lock for the Leafs, but with how tight the arms race is in the Eastern Conference, nothing is for certain. The Leafs were lucky to even get the two points on Saturday night against the struggling Canadiens as they didn't play the prettiest game. They looked like they could've used number 16 out there.

We can only hope that the comments are blown out of proportion as it would be easy to predict a first round exit for the Toronto Maple Leafs if they are without the hometown boy Mitch Marner in round one versus either the Bruins or Panthers.
