The Toronto Maple Leafs appear ready to move on from Nick Robertson, and now they could potentially target a former top-five pick to make it happen.

After over a year of speculation, all signs are now pointing to the Toronto Maple Leafs moving on from Nick Robertson, despite the career highs of 14 goals and 27 points in the NHL a season ago.

It's unclear if there's been any official talk between teams who are interested in him, but now the latest proposal suggests Toronto should look to Los Angeles and former No. 5 overall pick Alex Turcotte in a deal.

Now that #LeafsForever's Nick Robertson has requested a trade, could a swap with 2019 5th overall pick Alex Turcotte be in the cards?

Both need a change of scenery, and LA could utilize Robertson's scoring better. Turcotte could slot in the the Leafs' bottom-six nicely.

Who do you think would win this trade?

In Turcotte, the Maple Leafs would get a 23-year old forward that's played just 32 games in the NHL across the last three seasons, and while he's flashed AHL potential, he just hasn't found the right situation with the Kings yet.

Given that Robertson put up 27 points a year ago in the NHL, the Kings would likely need to attach some more value to the deal, but it makes sense for LA as they could add another piece of their future who could help them push for a playoff spot in the immediate future.

Ultimately, it appears as though a fresh start would make sense for both young forwards at this point in their career, and with the chance to play alongside some top NHL stars, Turcotte to the Maple Leafs could reinvigorate a promising career.
