The Toronto Maple Leafs found themselves in a battle with a division rival last night. In a close game against the Boston Bruins Tyler Bertuzzi found himself watch the game more than playing.
Head coach Sheldon Keefe decided to demote Bertuzzi to the 4th line after he has struggled to fit in with more minutes.
Bertuzzi's inability to adjust and simplify his game has finally cost him playing time. For a player that many had huge hopes for Bertuzzi has been very disappointing.
Of the players acquired this offseason Tyler Bertuzzi has been given the best opportunities to contribute.
He began the season playin alongside Auston Matthews on the top line. In 10 games as a Maple Leaf Bertuzzi has just 3 points.
Bertuzzi has also failed to provide the physical edge that many had hoped. He had a reputation for being a physical and annoying player to play against.
To this point that style has not been a prominent piece of his game.
If Bertuzzi wants to have a future in Toronto he needs to pick up his game quickly. If he continues to struggle offensively and within the Maple Leafs system it might be time to give another player an opportunity in the lineup.
