As the Toronto Maple Leafs head into Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Rangers on Friday night, they will be without a couple of players as Max Pacioretty is on the IR and Joseph Woll is missing his start due to illness.
But luckily for the Leafs they will have William Nylander on the ice, as it was concerning when the forward missed the entirety of overtime during the team's 5-4 win over the Bruins.
Thankfully for both the Leafs and their fans, Nylander has commented on how he's feeling, and it's a really positive sign.
Nylander was seen clutching his wrist or hand on the bench during OT and with Chris Tanev already leaving the game with a serious looking injury; it was bad news at first glance.
But he'll be in the lineup tonight as Toronto will no doubt need his scoring prowess to try and solve Igor Shesterkin or Jonathan Quick; two goaltenders who can turn a game on its head at a moment's notice.
It's a good thing too, as Nylander needs as many games as possible to get things going again; he hasn't scored since Feb. 4 when he had his hat-trick against the Calgary Flames and has to kickstart the offense again.
Thankfully his lineman Pontus Holmberg has picked him up with four goals over his last three games, but both Nylander and John Tavares need to start adding more consistent offense especially down this crucial stretch of the season.
In 58 games this year, Nylander has 33 goals and 25 assists while adding 14 PIM in 19:51 TOI, and currently sits second in the NHL tied with Mark Scheifele behind Leon Draisaitl's 40-goal campaign.
Nylander and company will head into the Big Apple on Friday night and try to keep their momentum going against the Rangers; the puck is scheduled to drop at 7PM ET.
