After a few day stretch that saw them acquire the likes of Mikhail Sergachev, Ian Cole, and John Marino, the Utah Hockey Club are at it again, this time with an intriguing minor league player swap that sees them land a former second round pick from the Ottawa Senators.
According to TSN's Chris Johnston, Utah have acquired 6-foot-3 winger Egor Sokolov, who has tallied an impressive 61 goals over the past three seasons with the Belleville Senators of the AHL. In exchange, they've sent former third-round pick Jan Jenik back to the Senators after three disappointing stints with the Coyotes over the past three years at the NHL level.
Ultimately, this trade may end up being of little consequence for both teams, but it's a low-risk deal that could end in high reward for one of them, and given Utah's moves this off-season, it's safe to say that confidence is high.
