Elias Lindholm's wife officially confirms reason for departure from Vancouver
Vancouver Canucks center Elias Lindholm appears to be heading to free agency after a post from his wife confirmed they are leaving Vancouver.
Lindholm of course, was acquired by the Canucks ahead of the trade deadline this season. Perhaps there was some hope from the fanbase that they would re-sign him, but as often is the case for trade deadline acquisitions, it seems like that will not be the case. His wife made a post to her Instagram captioned, "last day in Vancouver" implying that they are moving, likely back to Calgary, ahead of his next free agency signing.
Has Elias Lindholm's wife leaks their departure from Vancouver ???
A fan then asked her why they weren't staying in Vancouver, and she confirmed that it is related to his next contract and his free-agent status.
So, Elias Lindholm will evidently become a free agent.
There were questions about the post in the comments but Annica was quick to answer them, showing in no uncertain terms that Lindholm will be hitting free agency officially.
Lindholm was perhaps the most impactful trade deadline acquisition of any team this year. He was tied with Quinn Hughes for third on the Canucks in scoring with 5 goals and 10 points through 12 games. He was second in goals, only behind Brock Boeser.
Elias Lindholm this postseason:
 5g | 5a | 10pts in 13 games
2nd on the team in goals
 2nd on the team in +/- (+4)
 51.2% on faceoffs
Only center with more blocks and hits than him was Coyle
One of the best deadline acquisitions of the year.
It seems like the 29-year-old simply does not fit inro the Canucks long-term plans though. Be sure to tune in during the offseason to see where he will sign next.
