In a sad story in the hockey world, former Vancouver Canucks player Maurice 'Moe' Lemay has passed away as announced on social media; he was 62 years old.

Maurice 'Moe' Lemay was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 5th round back in 1981, and was a solid contributor for the Canucks in the 80's having scored 70 goals and 92 assists over 279 games including a career-high 52 points during the 1984-85 season. Winning a Stanley Cup with the Edmonton Oilers in 1986-87, Lemay quietly declined before bouncing between the AHL and NHL.

After leaving the NHL, Lemay settled into a career in Europe making stops in Austria, Switzerland, and most notably, Germany. He thrived over in Europe in the early-mid 90's and even had a 96-point campaign for Sauerland Iserlohn ECD, part of the Bundesliga that ran until the late 90's. Although having made a name for himself both in North America and Europe, Lemay lived a quiet life until his passing.

It's unknown at this current time if the Canucks will do anything to commemorate the life and career of Moe Lemay, but there is no doubt he was a big part of the franchise regardless. Lemay was also one of, if not the only Vancouver Canucks player who could rock their controversial 'Flying V' jerseys without looking ridiculous and gives off the impression of the quintessential hockey player:
