Of course there's many scenarios that could play out ahead of the June 28th Draft, however several scenarios seem to see the evaporation of the Big Four.
One particular trade, originally reported by Cédrick Gervais, from Marqueur.com, shares a tweet from Hockey Night in Montreal who proposed a trade between The Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadians.
This trade is quite unrealistic, but still extremely fascinating
To Montreal
Mitch Marner
To Toronto
- Florida Panthers' first-round pick (31st or 32nd)
- Calgary Flames' first-round pick next year
- The Montreal Canadians' second-round pick (37th)
- Josh Anderson
- Jordan Harris
- Joel Edmundson
While this scenario this unlikely, it's important to note that Treliving in sure to make a move to improve his team that is coming off playoff disappointment, even while breaking a 19 year playoff series winless spell. This will most likely spell the end of the Big Four consisting of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander and John Tavares
With both Auston Matthews and William Nylander being unrestricted free agents next summer, and Tavares and Marner with 2 years left on their contract, who can the Leafs truly afford to move on without?
