6-foot-7 Oilers Defenseman Drops The Gloves with Panthers Forward in a Spectacular Fight
The Edmonton Oilers are in a fierce battle to keep their playoff hopes alive this season after a horrific start put them way behind the eight ball. The team has already done through a coaching change as their 5-10-1 record puts them among the league's worst teams. However, the team has not given up, as can be seen by their performance tonight.
Edmonton Oilers Defenseman And Florida Panthers Forward Give Fans Show With Insane Fight
Tonight chaos erupted less than five minutes into the 2nd period between the Oilers and Panthers. Oilers defenseman Vincent Desharnais seemed to take exception to Panthers forward Jonah Gadjovich for pressuring Oilers goaltender Calvin Pickard around the net. Both players responded by dropping the gloves and they gave the fans in attendance a show they are not likely to forget anytime soon.
Edmonton Oilers Season Hangs In The Balance
The Oilers were expected to win the pacific division if not the Stanley Cup this year by many hockey analysts. Now their season is on life support after a 5-10-1 start saw their head coach Jay Woodcroft fired.
Tonight's game against the Panthers is exceptionally important to the Oilers as they need every point they can get to climb back into the playoff race before it is too late. They are currently down 4-3 early in the 3rd period.
