With training camp opening the Vegas Golden Knights released their roster for the camp. By far the biggest omission to the list was Robin Lehner.
With this news, it seems as though Lehner is still not close to a return. Many times if a player is close to returning they will be listed on the roster and just not take part in the on-ice activities. This does not seem to be the case for Lehner and the Golden Knights.
With Lehner out the Golden Knights will officially have to turn to some of the options that they used to fill in for 2022-23.
Lehner being out confirms that Logan Thompson is likely to be the main starter for Vegas this upcoming season. Thompson had a good rookie year but dealt with some injuries himself. For Thompson, the biggest worry is that he will have a sophomore slump and leave the Golden Knights vulnerable.
Thompson's backup looks to again be Adin Hill. Hill was also good last season in 27 appearances. In the past though Hill has had his struggles at the NHL level.
With both players having question marks around them it will be interesting to see if the Golden Knights explore the trade market if the team struggles to find success early on.
