Leafs forward Calle Jarnkrok exited the game early after he collided shoulder first with the boards. He was battling a Flyers defenseman for a loose puck in transition when he lost his footing.
The Leafs were already shorthanded coming into tonight as Mitch Marner missed the game as he is dealing with a mild high-ankle sprain. This probably only got worse as Jarnkrok would not return to the contest. Luckily, the team was still able to handily defeat the Flyers.
Head coach Sheldon Keefe was able to give an update on Jarnkrok's status after the game.
It sounds like the Leafs will be without Jarnkrok for an undisclosed period of time. Keefe could not be more specific due to not knowing the full extent of the injury yet. He revealed that they will likely get a better idea of his timeline to return once the team is back in Toronto today.
Keefe was also able to tell us that he is not dealing with a shoulder or head injury. This is good news as some feared the worst after having seen the play. Based on his phrasing it seems that the veteran should not miss too much time, so he should be ready before the playoffs start.
