According to NHL Trade Rumors, the Vancouver Canucks are looking to add a young right-handed defenceman to their roster and have a strong interest in Penguins' back end John Marino.
The Penguins will be looking to trade salary this summer and according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Canucks had contacted Ron Hextall in an effort to acquire the defenseman at the trade deadline.
However, given that the Pens were aiming to make it far in the playoffs, they were not willing to trade him at this time.
The 25-year-old Marino has five more years left on his contract, at an average of $4.4 million a year.
He has 64 points in 189 career games.
