Owen Beck has surprised everyone since his on-ice debut at training camp and may well force Kent Hughes to sign him to a contract with the Montreal Canadiens.
Drafted 33rd overall, the 18-year-old from Ontario is getting more and more attention. As Matt Drake of Habs Eyes on the Prizes says.
« I don't know how the Montreal Canadiens don't call Owen Beck into a boardroom and offer him a starting contract right after this game (Sunday).
Whether he stays or not, give him that vote of confidence. »
The young player played on the first line with Cole Caufield and Mike Hoffman in Monday night's preseason game between the Montreal Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils.
He even came close to scoring a beautiful goal.
