Bad News for Patrick Kane and the Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks are in the running for the Connor Bedard lottery and a lot has changed for the team, as the trade deadline approaches. This leaves the team and their veteran forward Patrick Kane in a tense situation.
He requested a trade this season as the rebuild in Chicago has kicked into motion.
But it appears Kane's time has run out, as Vladimir Tarasenko and Ryan O'Reilly make leaps to their new teams in Toronto and New York. Kane has hesitated on finding a new home and has lamented the fact he will not be reunited with Artemi Panarin.
Kane has looked like a shadow of himself lately, as he is on pace for 59 points this season, compared to 2021-2022, where he posted 92 points in 78 games. This will be a season of decline for the veteran winger, even with a -27 +/- rating that has earned him third worst in the league for the statistic.
Kane will suit up today against the Maple Leafs, as the Hawks have been unsuccessful in pulling out a win against the supercharged Leafs.
For now, Kane has to live with himself and his hesitation to make a move and now possibly live with the fact, he's on a tank squad.
