The NHL season has become a disaster with over 100 games postponed so far. Plenty of teams are playing with half their players.

As more and more teams are losing players to Covid19 deputy commissioner Bill Daly says it's actually a good thing.

«Again, that's going to depend on some things happening,» Daly said. "But, look, a larger and larger percentage of our player population has been affected by COVID this season and that number continues to grow every day. Really, by sheer numbers, if you accept the fact that once you're hit by COVID you're not going to get hit again this year, then I don't foresee an issue in finishing the season.»

The NHL has a chance to makeup a lot of postponed games since the players won't participate in the Beijing 2022 Olympics.

«I think by the middle to the end of January we'll start to see a more normalized setting, a more normalized schedule and we'll be in OK shape,» Daly said.

He even added his opinion on the financial situation for the league.

«Obviously, it's important from a revenue perspective, an HRR (hockey related revenue) perspective, to play before fans and to generate gate revenue. So we're going to try and be as cooperative and flexible as we possibly can be."
