Brad Marchand rarely minces his words and once again, he lived up to his reputation.
According to Marchand, organizations that give the title of captain to young players are irresponsible. As is the case with Nick Suzuki with the Montreal Canadiens.
« It's almost unfair to give 20-, 21-, 22-year-olds the title of captain when they have no idea what it's like to be a captain in the NHL. You're setting up young players for failure by doing that."
- Brad Marchand
On the other hand, many young captains have done well in the NHL. Think of Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid or Jonathan Toews, for example.
Are they failures? It is allowed to doubt it!
