The Washington Capitals defenceman Dmitry Orlov will having a hearing today from the NHL after kneeing Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers during last night's game in Washington where the Capitals would win 4-3 in overtime.
Ehlers left the game from the incident and had to be helped off the ice. The play happened during the third period. Winnipeg Jets interim coach Dave Lowry said Ehlers will be re-evaluated today.
Orlov didn't get penalized on the play, and coach Lowry would have this to say on it: "I'm disappointed. When you lose a player, you're disappointed. We have the luxury of a replay. It's a fast game. The four of them didn't see it the same way we saw it."
Ehlers is tied for 3rd on the Jets for points with a total of 13 goals and 12 assists this season. Ehlers is expected to miss at least one game.
