Caufield had an immediate impact in the NHL last season, both in the regular season and in the playoffs. Caufield had 4 goals, 8 assists, and 12 points in 20 playoff games.
This season has been unique. Caufield has one point, an assist, and a season plus minus rating of -3 after ten games. Considering he would get greater ice time in the AHL, some argue he should be moved down to Laval to play for The Rocket.
"We're looking at all options for all players." - Ducharme on the possibility of sending Caufield to the American league. Far from impossible according to my reading between the lines and my interpretation.
In my opinion, Caufield should be sent down. He's very young and has a lot to learn.
