It seemed like Evgeny Kuznetsov's Olympic dream was lost, but a recent report from Russia suggests otherwise.
Translated from Russian:
"The heads of the Russian national team in the form of Alexei Zhamnov and Ilya Kovalchuk are doing everything possible to resolve the situation with Kuznetsov. The FHR decides this issue at the highest government level. 80 percent that Kuznetsov will play at the Olympics," said a source as per RIA Novosti.
At the time of the revelation, both Kuznetsov and the Capitals were mortified, yet the news came as no surprise. A video of Kuznetsov partying at a hotel with two lines of a white substance exhibited on a table had previously leaked online, a drug that many assume is the identical one that led to his expulsion.
