Hayley Wickenheiser Makes Big Praise for Leafs Top Prospect At Development Camp!
Hayley Wickenheiser (senior director of player development for the Toronto Maple Leafs) was very impressed with what she saw in Nick Robertson early in Leafs development camp. She noted that Robertson was «special in the sense of his intensity and the willingness to want to be perfect and great in every aspect of his lifeone of the secrets for him I think is to dial it back at times.»Wickenheiser continued: «He has a full package of skill. For Nick, the next step is going to be being able to implement it in pressure situations and play within the gameI talked a lot with him about letting the game come to you [and] don't force it.»
Robertson is widely regarded as the organization top prospect already, and this might just cement this praise might just cement those claims. Regardless though, he will most likely be starting this season in the AHL with the Marlies to hone that skill and talent. He will be ready for when his name gets called barring what happens with the roster during the season.

He will be a key piece more than people think in my opinion. This is a huge do or die season for the Leafs core. Depending how everything goes this season, a big trade won't be too surprising for the Leafs during this season. Dubas is on the hot seat, and if things don't go better than planned, Dubas hand will be forced and that could very well affect the big core four of the Leafs. At that time, Robertson will be a cheaper offensive option to come into the lineup and produce to make up for might be some lost production depending on what that trade might come to be.
So far so good for Robertson at these very early stages. As this praise shouldn't go unnoticed. Especially for Leaf fans who have good reason to be very excited about this kid.
