Ryan Reaves was brought in to Toronto to change the culture, add character to the room, and establish toughness on the ice. It is fair to say that so far this season that has no happened.

Reaves has zero points in 12 games, just 12 penalty minutes, and is a minus eight.

Benched in play against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night

Ryan Reaves averages 7:38 of ice time this season. His max time on ice was 10:56 but this Monday he had the fewest minutes of his current Maple Leafs tenure.

After just eight shifts, with 4:32 of ice time, Reaves was benched midway through the second period.

"Ryan Reaves hasn't taken a shift since the 12:01 mark of the 2nd period. [Calle] Jarknrok mostly doubleshifting."

"Calle Jarnkrok is taking shifts on the fourth line, and Ryan Reaves last played midway through the second period."

The Reaves signing has not worked out so far with Sheldon Keefe's system

No one expects Reaves to score but the Leafs need him to start changing the momentum of games, as the team sits with a record of 6-4-2. Good for fourth in the Atlantic.

It was also concerning how Reaves had no push back in the game against the Bruins, especially after Marchand injured a Toronto defenseman during the game.

Reaves still has two more years on his contract, so the Leafs need to find a way to make it work for the team and player.
