The Maple Leafs have announced that they have signed the winner of the Hobey-Baker Trophy, awarded to the NCAA's Most Valuable Player, won by Cole Caufield last year, Dryden McKay, to a two-year AHL contract.
In 43 games this season with Minnesota State, McKay maintained a 1.31 goals-against average and .931 save percentage.
But, because there is a but. The goalkeeper has been suspended for six months from all international competition by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for an anti-doping violation.
McKay tested positive for ostarine on January 23.
