The Habs may find themselves short at the centre position this season with the departure of Danault. There is still the option of a professional tryout for the team. With forward Tyler Bozak still available, Marc Bergevin could invite him to training camp to give him a shot.
Playing centre with the St. Louis Blues for the past 3 seasons, the 35 year old has remained a very reliable player on both sides of the ice and is still capable of putting up close to 35 points per year. Last year he had 17 points in 31 games.
Obviously, it wouldn't be to offer him a $5M per season contract like he just got, but to give him the opportunity to have an NHL job and sign him at a discount to less than $2M if he earns his spot with the big club.
