Recently, great centre Jack Eichel was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights alongside a 3rd round pick.
The Buffalo Sabres got:
Peyton Krebs + Alex Tuch + a 2022 1st Round pick + a 2023 3rd Round pick
The Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks, and Minnesota Wild were all in the mix.
The actual offer from the Sabres to the Wild was published by their writer Michael Russo over the weekend.
The cost was exorbitant.
The Wild would have had to transfer two of the following three players to accomplish this move (because to salary cap issues).
So the Wild would have added Eichel but subtracted:
2nd round picks
- Their top two picks (Boldy & Rossi)
-Kevin Fiala, Matt Dumba (Or Greenway)
So we can see why it didn't work out, despite their initial enthusiasm.
