The NHL claims it found no proof that Evander Kane wagered on his own games.
An inquiry by Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP and NHL Security was prompted by Deanna Kane's social media remarks. The couple just divorced.
This "particular case" is now closed, although the NHL will continue to investigate any new evidence pertaining to gambling allegations. The league also announced it had reopened its investigation into Kane for "unrelated claims of potential misconduct." The league gave no more details.
Front Office Sports reported earlier this week that Deanna Kane had filed a domestic violence restraining order application that included claims of sexual abuse.
The NHL said it reviewed social media, public data, and court papers related to Kane's bankruptcy and potential divorce. The inquiry also includes interviews with members of the Sharks organization and Kane himself. The NHL says Deanna Kane "refused to cooperate."
