Subban will be honoured before the game on January 12 against the Nashville Predators.
MONTREAL - P.K. Subban will return home on January 12.
The Canadiens announced Monday that one of the most electrifying players to don the team's uniform in recent years will be honoured before the game against the Nashville Predators as part of "P.K. Subban Homecoming" night at the Bell Centre.
In addition to an on-ice pre-game ceremony prior to the face-off against the Preds, Subban will also meet fans at the main Tricolore Sports shop at the Bell Centre. Details will be announced closer to the event.
"We are thrilled to welcome P.K. back to his first NHL home in January," said Canadiens owner, president and CEO Geoff Molson. "We look forward to giving our fans a chance to celebrate his career and the impact he has had - and continues to have - on the Montreal community. Whether it's the kids on local minor hockey teams who choose to wear the number 76 or the number of fans we see every night at the Bell Centre who still proudly wear their Subban jerseys, you don't have to go far to understand the influence P.K. has had on the popularity of the sport in Quebec."
Subban, who announced his retirement last September via his Instagram account, made his mark both on and off the ice during his seven seasons in Montreal. In 434 games played with the Bleu-blanc-rouge, he accumulated 63 goals and 278 points, adding another 38 points in 55 playoff games. Beyond the Bell Centre, the 2013 Norris Trophy winner's impact in the community, primarily through the P.K. Subban Foundation and the Montreal Children's Hospital, has helped cement his undeniable legacy in the city.
