Pierre LeBrun looked into the Canadiens situation today.
«He thinks the Habs should avoid large deals or personnel changes for now and retain the status quo. Unless something drastic happens, he feels this is Marc Bergevin's last season in Montreal, as owner Geoff Molson hasn't contacted him since the summer. Bergevin would be OK quitting the group after ten years.»
«Dominique Ducharme, though, is unique. He just got a new 3-year contract before the season started and his job is safe no matter how long the Canadiens' season goes south. LeBrun thinks it's absurd to remove a coach just months after renewing his contract, especially because Claude Julien is still being paid after being fired next season.»
Bergevin did a good job with the Canadiens but it's time to move on. If rumours are correct, the Los Angeles Kings look interested in the Canadiens GM.
