Toronto Maple Leafs Nick Ritchie has cleared waivers Today and what to be somewhat expected, first off the Leafs are in need of some serious cap space, and Nick was labeled the 13th forward.
He's been a healthy scratch and only got back into the line up to replaced Ondrej Kase vs the Oilers. Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe wasn't happy when Ritchie was caught out of position backcheck with was described by sportsnet "minimal effort" on a Brandon Perlini goal that was preventable.
Sheldon Keefe tried not to blame Ritchie or throw him under the bus as they say but he said that play "Gave them life" after that Nick was placed on waivers. Nick has just 1 goal and 7 assists with a -5 rating in 30 games this season with the buds.
"It just hasn't worked out the way anybody had seen to this point." -Luke Fox
